Mondavi Maestro 2014 Napa Valley, CA
Reg. $59 >> SALE $39
Was a hit at the last club member party and sold out that night. I was able to get 18 more bottles and am closing it out at a killer price! 94 Points The Tasting Panel Magazine: Named for the opening of Robert Mondavi's To Kalon Cellar in 2000, when the man himself threw a huge "cellar-bration" featuring a commissioned chamber-orchestra piece aptly named "Ode to To Kalon." It was there that Mr. Mondavi leapt to his feet to lead the music. As a tribute to the pioneering Maestro of Napa Valley's success, this wine—a blend of 73% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Cabernet Franc and 2% each of Merlot and Petit Verdot—offers up a meaty nose of deep, dark chocolate-covered strawberries. Flavors of tobacco, soil, slate, tar and olives go long on gritty tannins, and with a wave of the baton, it finishes on a high note of lilacs and caramel-coated coffee bean.
Belle Glos Clark & Telephone Pinot Noir
Regular $43+ >> Sale $35
Best described as Christmas in your mouth!
Clark & Telephone Vineyard, located near the corner of Clark Avenue and Telephone Road in the Santa Maria Valley, is cooled by wind and fog that snakes in from the Pacific Ocean along a channel of the Santa Maria River. Established in 1972, the Clark & Telephone Vineyard was planted own root to the Martini clone. This heirloom clone of Pinot Noir, one of the first to grace the California coast-lands, has become something of a lost treasure.
Clos Pissarra El Ramon Priorat 2010 Spain
Reg. $35 >> Sale $25
We’ve always been fans of Priorat and this wine is no exception. A well balanced and integrated blend of Grenache, Carignane, and Cabernet Sauvignon, this wine hails from the El Ramon vineyard on the steep slopes of Bellmunt in Priorat. With less than 500 cases produced, the care in the vineyard and winemaking is undeniable in this powerful yet balanced and elegant wine.
J Bookwalter Conflict Proprietary Red Conner-Lee Vineyard, Columbia Valley, Washington 2013
Reg. $50 >> Sale $35
John Bookwalter and Caleb Foster take a right bank Bordeaux style with Conflict, creating this with Merlot (60%), Cabernet Sauvignon (35%) and Cabernet Franc. It’s a French oak lover’s delight with an abundance of sweet toast and blackberry on the nose. On the palate shows balance with red currant, juicy black cherry. Drinking well (and will for another decade) but will open up with a decant or allowing it to slowly develop in a large glass.
Happy Holidays to all of you and much thanks for the patronage you have shown to all of the staff at Wine Lab.
